EUREC4A
28 January 2020
The international research campaign EUREC4A is being conducted in the western Atlantic in the period from mid-January until mid-February. During this largescale campaign, long-term measurements at the BCO station on the east coast of Barbados, unmanned vehicles on land (UAV, balloon kite) and in water (underwater gliders, floating buoys, autonauts and floats), four research aircrafts (WP-3D, HALO, ATR-42 and Twin-Otter) as well as four research vessels are deployed. Among them are the French L'ATALANTE and the American RONALD H. BROWN, as well as the METEOR and MARIA S. MERIAN, both operated by the University of Hamburg. The goal is to study the interactions between trade wind clouds and the characteristics of their atmospheric and oceanographic environment above the ocean.
