R/V MARIA S. MERIAN Dockyard period 2019 in Emden

After another two years of worldwide use, which included 21 successfully guided research cruises, R/V MARIA S. MERIAN was drydocked again on September 17, 2019, as scheduled. By the start of this dockyard period the 14-years old vessel henceforth begins the first part of its so called „Midlife-Conversion“. In this context, especially the following measures are going to be processed by October 29, 2019:
- Complete blasting and renewal of the hull coating;
- Exchange of the starboard propeller gondola by an overhauled aggregate;
- General Overhaul of a main engine and three generators;
- Upgrade of the equipment in order to fulfill the IMO POLAR CODE;
- Modernization of the Dynamic Positioning System ;
- Overhaul of the scientific sea-water plant;
- Modernization/ renewal of the navigation lights (LED technology);
- Renewal of the VSAT satellite antennas;
- Inspection and overhaul of the electrical drive converters;
- Overhaul of several hydraulic systems and lifting gears;
- Overhaul of several refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation systems;
- Partly revision of the interior and many other measures more.
